He talks about what to do when you eat at restaurants' and for those days you just don't feel like cooking, and tips and tricks to stay on track like the list of Instead of this, eat that. He begins with cooking basics and has a few blank pages for your shopping list, and a week of menus planning sheets. There is also a sample menu after that. Each recipe has the cooking time, whether it's nut free, gluten free, Prep time. Also, if it's a one pot meal.
The recipes are easy to read, not complicated to make. The ingredients can easily be found in your local grocery store. I like that there are recipes for condiments, and sauces too. I like that he lists the nutritional information at the bottom of each recipe. There are a variety of helpful items at the bottom, like the serving size, nutritional break down, variation tips, serving tips, and helpful cooking tips. Most recipes have 5 ingredients and take 30 minutes or less to make.
Some of the Breakfast meals that looked yummy to me are Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal, Chocolate, Peanut Butter Quinoa, and Southwest Sweet Potato skillet, Under Sides I want to try the four can chili, Whole-wheat Pita Pockets, and Crispy Cauliflower wings, Under Entries the Falafel burger looks good along with Easy Vegan Pizza bread, Baked Mac and peas, Crispy Rice and bean Tostados, and under deserts Sweet potato spice cake and chocolate microwave mug cake.
I'm excited about trying these recipes and many others. The only thing missing from this book are lots of food pictures. The author starts each chapter with some foods featured in that section, that's it.

But if someone is a beginner in the Whole Food Plant Based world, the author's book will be a great help in sorting some things out. The beginning of his book has a lot of questions asked that I have heard from others interested in this lifestyle.

This is an excellent book for those new to the whole-food plant-based (WFPB) way of eating. WFPB involves eating only whole foods and minimising (or avoiding) all dairy, oil, meats and processed food. It is based on the Forks Over Knives documentary and website. This is not a vegan or vegetarian way of eating but is friendly to both.I am always wary of 'health' cookbooks as they usually consist of boring salads or 'you might as well eat grass' recipes. This book is different. The recipes are simple but are really tasty and offer excellent alternative versions of their fatty non-WFPB counterparts (like burgers, enchiladas, cheese etc). Additionally, the recipes contain easily obtainable items (no need to hunt down pixie grown mushrooms that are hand-picked by gypsies!) from your supermarket. They also don't take huge amounts of preparation time. You can also follow the author on Instagram to see videos of him cooking these dishes.
The beginning of the book will provide guidance on eating plans, background information to WFPB, pantry essentials, and basic cooking appliances needed.
For those who have been using this way of eating for a while, you may find the recipes a bit too simple. Saying that, there are some really decent staples here. The only downside for me was the lack of pictures. When you start cooking using a completely new way of eating, you need to pictures to guide you on how the final product should look like. However, this is a minor quibble.

Most recipes are simple and easy to make. I loved the sauces, salad dressings and cheesy options. Mock Toona was fun. But too many recipes were made with wheat—not just baked goods. I'll have figure a way around those recipes to use them. Also many are high in fat.
This has some really easy to prepare, tasty recipes! I made the toona salad right after I read about it and plan on making the chickpea and white bean hummus as well. Check it out, it's worth the read.

While I have yet to try any of these recipes many sound simple and delicious. I plan to try some as early as tomorrow. And am looking forward to indulging more fully in a plant based diet and I believe these recipes will help keep me going in the right direction.
This book is the first one I could relate to in starting out on this WFPB journey. The recipes are simple yet sound delicious! Not complicated! I will recommend this cookbook to friends who may be just starting out on this adventure!
What a relief! A book with recipes for real food with simple ingredients. No more looking for a rare flower that only blooms once in a blue moon that you can on,y get from a speciality grocer west of the Mississippi to make a dish.
This cookbook is simple yet packed full of yummy comfort foods. I love simple foods and easy to put together recipes and this is perfect.
This book has everything that you need and then some if you are attempting a wfpb lifestyle. Love it, love it, love it. Hope there are more to come
This is the new norm. This will guide us all on how to be healthier. I am trying but I still eat my chicken, once in a while. Taking one day at a time.
I choose this rating due to the fact there are ingredients in the book not found in my area. However the content is well organized and easy to follow.
Great easy to make recipes! Following a PBWF diet may sound overwhelming at first. This book really helps show how easy and delicious it is!
I found this very very good and encouraged me to go plant based soon. I will surely recommend to all my relatives and friends.

This cookbook is separated into two sections, Part One: Getting Started with Chapter 1 explaining why you should go plant-based and Cooking with Oil (really without) on page 4, and Chapter 2 containing shopping lists and sample menus. There is a vitamin chart listing vegetables to eat that are rich in nutrients and a chart for some foods to eat "instead of this, eat that" on page 15. A good cookbook contains pantry, refrigerator, freezer, and equipment essentials which this one does starting on pages 16 through 19. Part Two: The Recipes has Chapter 3 through Chapter 8 with the titles of Entrees, Smoothies and Beverages, and Sauces, Dressings, and Dips to name a few.
Two recipes that caught my eye are Sautéed Collard Greens on page 63, and White Bean and Chickpea Hummus on page 133. I am a hummus lover and fortunately have the ingredients in my cupboard of staples. I like collard greens also and usually prepare in my slow cooker, but decided to try this sautéed recipe in a saucepan.
The White Bean and Chickpea Hummus after tasting was a little bland so I added additional fresh lemon juice, onion and garlic powders, a pinch of kosher salt and a few roasted red bell pepper. The Sauteed Collard Greens were very tender and tasteful.
I am recommending this plant-based cookbook for any person interested in preparing plant-based meals for a simpler and healthier eating lifestyle. There are plenty of interesting recipes to prepare for a taste test. Get ready, set, and go!
I received this cookbook from Callisto Publishers in exchange for an honest review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission Guidelines.
