Cannot update cursor since read-only

Cannot update cursor since read-simply

(OP)

My application runs fine in "Evolution Mode". However afterward compiling a ".app" file and then running it, I become the "cannot update cursor, since it'due south read only" mistake. I have checked the Directory (windows explorer) where the DBF files are kept to see if information technology was set to 'read only', it was, so I inverse the properties to the directory and sub directories by removing read but condition. When I run the app I get the same trouble and the directories have reverted back to read only status.

Running VFP nine with WIN 7.

Regards,
David

RE: Cannot update cursor since read-but

Mayve the table is included in the project.
Bank check the "Data" page of your project.

The Table is included in Project under Data Page / Freetables

RE: Cannot update cursor since read-just

So mark it equally Excluded.

RE: Cannot update cursor since read-just

That alone doesn't thing, simply whether it'south set to be included in the APP,EXE or DLL you lot build or not.
There has to be a small striked circle at the left side of the table name to exclude it from the build.
It's fine to have it in the projection managing director for easy access durĂng development, but when information technology is included (you must do this intentially, by default whatsoever dbf is not included) this means information technology's compiled into the terminal product, a USE uses it from there and readonly, otherwise changing or adding data would demand to alter the EXE at runtime, that'south something prohibitetd, therefore all data embedded into an EXE is readonly.
There is nothing in the build automatically setting readonly flags though, neither in files nor in directories.

Good day, Olaf.

RE: Cannot update cursor since read-only

Thanks all for your help.

Olaf,
Information technology was indeed the "small striked circle" that was missing on a couple of files. How that happened, I don't know.

All now appears to be working ok!!

Thanks again for the assist. [bigsmile]

Regards,
David

RE: Cannot update cursor since read-simply

The "modest striked circumvolve" missed since you lot had included the file, but forgotten to mark it every bit Excluded. Kind of counter intuitive, merely that'southward how VFP works.

Well, we're talking about a language with commands like WAIT WINDOW NOWAIT and EDIT NOEDIT. In that location'south no reason to go looking for elegance. bigsmile

RE: Cannot update cursor since read-only

Well, I double chekced, if you add together a tabular array into the project by default information technology is excluded fomr compilation. It doesn't mattter, if via dra&drop or via Add together push button of the project manager.

Bye, Olaf.
